Mexico offers great exciting opportunities to the tourists and the travelers will surely experience the most delightful holiday. Mexico has been credited by the World Tourism Organization as being one of the biggest tourism industries of the world. Mexican tourism is the third largest contributing sector in the industrial GDP of Mexico. Mexico is a popular destination of the world owing to its unique culture, ancient ruins of the Meso- American civilization, pleasant coastal climate and excellent beach resorts. The main tourist seasons are during the months of July, August and December and also during the spring break and Easter time.

Mexico has the most rich and striking history with the earliest civilization of the Olmec or the Mayan that peaked in 1200 BC. This civilization had very advanced culture of religion, mathematics, intellectual pursuits and architecture. The 2 great cities that emerged during this period were the Teotihuacán and Cholula. The Mayan Civilization reached its height during the period of 600 to 900 AD. The most important civilization at this time was of the Toltecs and their capital was Tula. Their ancestry belonged to the famed Aztecs. Mexico was settled in the north in the 15th century by Hernan Cortes, a Spaniard along with a crew of 550 explorers and sailors. The Spanish rule began hereafter and Mexico gained its independence in 1820- 1821. Mexico has seen many political upheavals, civil wars, unrest ever since then. Today, Mexico is a highly developed nation with stable government and good economic policies.

Mexico is abundantly endowed with nature and natural resources. The tourists can experience the vast wealth of nature in the Sierra de la Laguna Biosphere Reserve in Baja California. The nature enthusiasts can indulge in hiking and mountain biking and see the endemic species of plants and animals- palms, cacti, pine trees, mountain lions, foxes, coyotes, desert mule deer, badgers, gophers and kangaroo rats. El Zocalo is an enormous paved plaza in the city centre of Mexico City and you will get to see the magnificent Presidential Palace and impressive Metropolitan Cathedral. Templo Mayor is another famous tourist sight; it is the Great Temple of the Aztecs.

The visitors can get valuable insights into the ancient history and culture of Mexico by seeing the museums in Palacio de Bellas Artes. You get to witness folk performances also at the art center and theatre. Another must see is the Bosque de Chapultepec and Musio Nacional de Anthrpologia. The tourist must visit the colorful craft market at San & Aacute;ngel, a charming Mexican suburb. Zona Rosa is the place where tourists can dine, shop and enjoy the vibrant nightlife. Here, you can see the Independence Monument- the Winged Victory gilded statue. Teotihuacán is the largest ancient city of Mexico and the tourists can see the Citadel, Pyramid of the Sun and Pyramid of the Moon. This complex also has the famous Templo de Quetzalcoatl. Chichen Itz&aacute is an important historical site of the Mayan civilization. The tourists ought to see the beautiful church of Santo Domingo. There are many more tourist places in Mexico which the visitors can enjoy while in Mexico.
