Overview

At the heart of Europe lies Hungary and the attractions here can catch the attention of the most fastiditious travelers. The capital Budapest is actually made of two cities Buda and Pest which are situated on the opposite banks of the River Danube. The unique cultural landscape of the city has earned it the nickname Paris of central Europe. The Baroque style of architecture of the different buildings in Budapest makes for a tour de force of the city. Hungarian wine is the identity of the place and one can find brands like Bull’s Blood, Tokay and many others that have carved their niche in the world. Some of the exotic destinations of Hungary include Balatonfured, Eger, Lake Balaton, Pecs, the Danube Bend and many more. However no trip to Hungary is complete with the visit to the different wineries of the country.

Balantonfured

The place called Balantonfured is situated on the banks of Lake Balaton in the northern part of Hungary. Balantonfured is an exotic resort that blends tradition and modernity and makes for a most tranquil place to relax in. The attractions at Balantonfured include a brilliant promenade, several museum devoted to art and bubbling hot water springs. While in the area one can also visit the Tihany village which is a historical village. The region of Badacsony is famous for its natural scenery and the adventurous ones can take the many challenging hiking trails.

Lake Balaton

Although Hungary is a landlocked country nonetheless it has its own Riviera. Lake Balaton is located at a distance of 100 km from Budapest and is an oblong lake. This lake has the reputation of being the largest lake of Europe and is fondly called as the playground of the country. The south and the north shores of the lake offer different attractions for the visitors. The south shore is mainly a longer resort dotted with excellent hotels and tiny beaches. While the north shore of the lake is known for its historical towns and sightseeing attractions and there are also numerous mountain trails that one can try. Sailing and windsurfing activities are the most popular attractions of visitors while at Lake Balaton.

Eger

The town of Eger is the most ideal one for spending vacations; the town is termed as the baroque town and as such offers some interesting historical sites. The castle in Eger is one such interesting place that one can explore which dates back to the 13th century. One can feel the medieval character of the castle. While in Eger one should never miss the thermal baths and a visit to the vine yards that have been here since the 11th century. Historical museums and churches enhance the historical look of the town.

Budapest

The capital city of Hungary has to offer the guests many attractions but what stands out from the rest are the neo-Gothic monuments as well as the medieval enclaves. For rejuvenating the body and soul one can head to the spa because in Budapest alone there are as many as more than one hundred hot water springs and fifty swimming pools. The medicinal baths are supposed to cure skin diseases. One can find bath houses like Király Medicinal Baths, Rudas and many others.
