Take a trip to the land of rich culture and history, Cambodia- the beautiful Southeast Asian country and enjoy an awesome vacation. Cambodia acts as a magnet, attracting the tourists from all over the world to its magnificent and exquisite temples of Angkor Wat. Cambodia is a descendant state of the erstwhile powerful Buddhist Khmer and Hindu Empire that ruled majority of the Indochinese Peninsula in the period between 11th and 14th centuries. The capital city of Cambodia is Phnom Penh. The country of Cambodia has become quite safe to travel and the tourists must not miss this opportunity of visiting this lovely country.

Cambodia has four airports that cater to commercial flights. The largest airport of Cambodia is the International Airport of Siem Reap-Angkor and has maximum traffic of international flights. The second biggest airport is the Phnom Penh International Airport at Phnom Penh and the other airports are in Battambang and Sihanoukville. The road network is being improved and the main roads are being upgraded to international standards. There are 2 rail lines in Cambodia and there is an extensive network of inland waterways. The use of motorcycles and automobiles has increased with a rise in economic activity. The bicycles are a predominant mode of transport and the visitors also use cycle rickshaws.

The Angkor Wat Temples rise out of the deep Cambodian jungles and have a mystical quality about them. The Angkor Wat Temples are a true representation of the Khmer architecture of the Angkor era. They were built in AD 879n to 1191 in honor of Hindu god, Vishnu. It would take nearly a week to explore the complete area around the main temple complex. They have to be seen to be believed and experienced. The Khmer culture is being revived after the ouster of the Pol Pot regime and the tourists can see the distinctive dances and various art forms along with different crafts, sculpture and architecture. The visitors can enjoy the re-established classical dances and famous National Ballet. The Buddhist Temple of Preah Vihar in the Dongrek Mountains has been reopened for various celebrations, especially for the Cambodian New Year.

The infamous Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum is a must see historic site for all the tourists. Other places of tourist interest in Cambodia are the Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda and National Museum in Phnom Penh. Oudong is the site of the burial chedis of kings of Khmer Empire and it is situated on a hill at a distance of 30 km from Phnom Penh. The tourists must also see the ancient Ta Phrom Temple at Tonle Bati, which is at a distance of 42 km from Phnom Penh. Sinhanoukville is a famous beach resort and the tourists can spend some leisure time over here. River cruises for dolphin watching are offered on the Tonle Sap and Mekong Rivers near the capital city. The Festival of Boat Racing, Bonn Om Teuk is an annual event to watch out for; it is celebrated with great fanfare and festivities. Cambodia is home to varied wildlife and this is also an added attraction for the tourists. Explore the hill tribe country of Sapa and go for shopping at the Bac Ha Sunday Market.
