Miami is a posh and bustling vacation destination; the city has a busy and pulsating nightlife. It gives the impression of being on the go at all times, a city which is awake at all hours of the day. Miami is the crowning glory of Florida’s palm fringed landscapes and is blessed with the best of sights in the form of striking architecture of the Art Deco type, dazzling beaches, reckless boardwalks, glamorous nightlife coupled with great sightings at the South Beach. Miami is famously known as “Magic City”. The face of Miami has undergone a complete makeover and it has changed its image of a drug-stricken crime city of America.

The multicultural American character is truly reflected by Miami city. It is the gateway to Central and South America and comes third on the popularity chart amongst all American cities. The city was founded by tycoon Henry Flagler in 1843, when he extended his private railroad for carrying the produce of citrus fruits. The city developed slowly in the beginning and it flourished after the land boom of Florida in 1920s. Al Capone came here during the Prohibition. The Mafia came in Miami after WWII. The Cuban refugees came in hordes after Fidel Castro came to power in Cuba in the year 1959. Spanish and English are well spoken in Miami.

Miami enjoys a warm weather due to its location near the equator. It can be reached easily by air at the Miami International Airport, one of the biggest airports of the world. The main air carrier is the American Airlines, and it is well serviced by Asian, Latin, European and Caribbean carriers as well. There is one more international airport at a distance of half an hour from Miami- the Fort Lauderdale International Airport. Many low cost carriers fly to this airport and this works out to be a cheaper option. Silver Service of Amtrak has two daily trains from New York and other cities. Miami has connections of 3 main highways and hence, is easily accessible by car also. The tourists can get around in Miami by well developed public transport systems of buses and metrorail. A taxi is an expensive mode of transport, but rental cars are very affordable.

The metrorail will take you to many places of tourist attractions like the Dadeland Mall, Downtown Miami, Lowe Art Museum, Vizcaya Museum and gardens, Merrick Park Village, Miami Science Museum and many shopping areas. The tourist must visit the ancient Spanish Monastery that was built originally in 1141 in Spain. This location is popularly used for marriages. Another notable tourist attraction is the Holocaust Memorial, reflecting the trials and tribulations of the victims and survivors of Holocaust. Coral Castle is an excellent piece of architecture, built with very huge and heavy stones. Other places of tourist interest include Jewish Museum of Florida, Frost Art Museum, Bass Museum of Art, Wolfsonian-Florida International University, Venetian Pool, Lowe Art Museum, Bayfront Park and Oleta River State Recreation Park. The tourists can enjoy surfing and windsurfing at the Haulover Beach Park. Enjoy bowl games at Miami Orange Bowl facility and you can attend the events like Winter Party, Winter Music Conference and White Party in addition to many more at Miami.
