Florida is a state of the United States of America, situated in the southeastern part of the country. Majority part of this state forms a huge peninsula with the Atlantic Ocean on the eastern side and Gulf of Mexico on the western side. Most of the Florida state has a climate of subtropical and humid type, while the southern part enjoys a tropical climate. Florida is one of the most sought after tourist destinations of the world. Florida is aptly called as “The Sunshine State” and fulfils all the requirements of the discerning travelers who are in search of sun, fun and excitement. Florida is full of ample tourist attractions like the Magic Kingdom Park, Busch Gardens and Walt Disney World; these are just a small number of man-made tourist attractions to be mentioned for the renowned state.

The most recognizable face of Florida is Orlando, famed for its numerous theme parks, water parks, entertainment facilities and movie studios. Florida has abundant to behold, with the lovely nature in the form of mountains, forests, freshwater lakes, hills, winding waterways, long coastline, numerous islands, inlets, countless bays and excellent climate, to top it all. Florida has 8 regions that are divided as per the geography of the place. They are the North Central, Northwest, Northeast, Central, Central East, Central West, Southeast and Southwest Florida and Keys. Miami Beach and Miami are located on the southeastern tip of Florida and are favorite haunts of the celebrities. Palm Beach is also another glamorous hot-spot. Fort Lauderdale is perfectly suited for family holidays, as it has great offerings of recreation and sport activities. Florida Keys are blessed with lovely beaches, crystal clear waters and salubrious tropical climate.

Tallahassee is the capital city of Florida and is essentially Southern in character. It has beautiful rolling hills, cool climate and excellent oak forests. The important cities of the Central West region are St. Petersburg and Tampa. The cultural capital of this area is Sarasota, thanks to the efforts of the Ringling couple, who have preserved a magnificent collection of artworks in their refurbished house. Naples is a well known seaside retreat in the southwestern region. Marco Island is a good example of ecological conservation, situated just near the mainland. Jacksonville is a famous city in the northeastern part of Florida and takes its name after General Andrew Jackson. St. Augustine city is situated just nearby and is famed for being the oldest city of America, with nearly more than sixty historic sites.

Amelia Island is known as “Isle of Eight Flags”, due to its being governed by eight countries during the course of its history. Fernandina Beach is situated at the centre and is America’s second oldest city. The Central East region of Florida is well known for the Daytona city and beach, which has many rides, amusement facilities and snack bars. North West Florida is a treasure trove with bubbling springs, secret caverns, and trails, Florida Caverns State Park, Gulf Islands National Seashore and Pensacola City with its museums and art and cultural center. Travelers of all types will find something interesting in Florida and the holiday in Florida will surely be a memorable experience for one and all.
