Palau is an island country situated in the Pacific Ocean. It is officially called the Republic of Palau. It lies at a distance of 500 miles from the east of Philippines and 200 miles away from South of Tokyo. Palau is one of the smallest and youngest nations of the world. Palau was ranked as number one Underwater Wonder of the World in the list of CEDAM International’s seven underwater wonders. It is home to the most spectacular locations for diving and snorkeling and has well developed infrastructure and choicest facilities for the same. The coral reefs of Palau are home to over 700 sea anemone and coral species and 1500 fish species. During the course of diving, the divers are able to see all from the coral gardens, plunging walls to the wrecks of WW II.

The local marine reserves of Palau are abundant and there is a large variety of snappers, butterfly fish, triggerfish, barracudas, spadefish, reef sharks and Napoleon wrasse. You can also sight green turtles, hawksbill, cuttlefish, manta rays and eagle rays frequently. Earlier, Palau formed a part of Caroline Islands. Palau is an archipelago of over 200 islands and with the exception of three islands, rest all are situated in one barrier reef that represents 2 geological formations. The largest islands of Palau are of volcanic origin and have a rugged terrain of inner jungles and vast regions of grassed terraces. The Rock Islands are presently called the Floating Garden Islands, and they are a limestone formation. The Kayangel Atoll is located in the northernmost region and is a classic coral reef.

Palau has the right mix of ingredients for a perfect holiday in the form of picturesque natural beauty, rich culture, remote location and pristine wilderness. It makes up for the most relaxing holiday with its lovely beaches and laid back lifestyles. The main tourist attraction is the natural wonder of Rock Islands, a group of mushroom shaped isles that are mostly uninhabited. One of the most important resorts of Palau is Koror, the capital city. It is full of first class hotels, lovely beaches and swimming pools. The stage is aptly set for the hikers and nature lovers in the lush jungles and waterfalls of Babeldoab Island, the biggest island of Palau. The ancient Palauan villages still survive on the periphery of these jungles. Palau is a paradise for scuba divers. You can find world’s best diving spots near the German Channel and off Peleliu Island. Blue corner is a legendary place and lives up to its reputation. You are able to spot big pelagic fish and sharks in most of the dives. The channels are haunted by manta rays. You can avail the facilities of dive guides that are based on the shores.
