This airport is serviced by budget flights of Transavia and Ryanair. There are trains from mainland of Italy as well as international cities like Zagreb, Budapest and Ljubljana. The cars are not a very comfortable way to reach Venice because the cars have to be parked outside the city limits and parking is quite expensive. The other ways to reach Venice are rental cars, buses and ships.
As cars are not allowed in the city, Venice becomes the lone pedestrian city of the world. It is really pleasant to walk around this beautiful pollution free city. You may feel standing and walking to be quite tiring, so gear up yourself before a trip to Venice and get used to walking. You can use the water taxis and water buses to get around Venice in a quicker way. Make use of Venice Cards to move around as they will give you discounts and free entries for museums.
There are about 150 churches in Venice. You can take a combined pass for visiting three or more churches. The most notable churches are the Saint Mark’s Basilica, San Giovanni e Paolo, Santa Maria dei Miracoli and Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari. There are many museums and historical buildings worth visiting like the Correr museum, Doge’s Palace, La Fenice Theater, Jewish Ghetto of Venice, The Jewish Museum, Mocenigo Palace and Peggy Guggenheim Museum in addition to many more.
