The second largest city in the country of Libya is Benghazi. Benghazi was destroyed in the Second World War. Pearl of the Desert
When in Libya also visit the “Pearl of the Desert”. This is basically an Oasis town and is located to the southwest of Tripoli. Here you could see the mulberry square, the D’jmaa al Kabir mosque, the old slave market and the House Museum. Close to town are the Zallaf sand dunes, where the Tuareng tribe lives and the Saline lakes where you can enjoy a salt water bath.
