Delhi is served by one international airport, the Indira Gandhi International Airport and it has several international flight connections. The other modes of transport are also quite well developed in Delhi. Delhi is connected to all major cities of India by trains. As Delhi is a major metro, there are bound to be traffic jams and rush hours. The tourists will find it quite an adventure to get around in Delhi.
Delhi can be explored well with the Delhi Metro as the service of this underground train is quite cheap and quick. The bus service also has connections to almost all parts of the city and they are very cheap. The only drawback is that they are overcrowded. You can use the services of hired cars or taxis to see the tourist attractions of Delhi. You can also travel around in auto rickshaws or cycle rickshaws and if you are adventurous, then you may walk. Walking is not very advisable though, as the distances are great and the roads are not fit for walking.
The places of tourist interest in Delhi include Red Fort, Jama Masjid, Chandani Chowk, Lodhi Gardens, Teen Marta, Hauz Kahs, Humayun’s Tomb, Qutub Minar, India Gate, Raj Ghat, Nehru Park, National Museum, International Doll’s Museum, Birla Mandir, National Railway Museum, Lotus Temple and Akshardham Temple in addition to many more. The tourist can enjoy good shopping at various markets like Connaught Place, South Extension, Palika Bazaaar and Janpath and so on. The light and sound show at Red Fort is a must see.
