Holiday, Travel Tips

When a person who is reading a book decides to go on a tour to all those places mentioned in the book he is reading then he said to have embarked on a literary tour. Such a travel based on the places about which one reads is gaining a lot of popularity nowadays. One could say that the trend became more popular after Dan Brown’s book; ‘The Da Vinci Code’ came out. Many people who read the book was so fascinated by the way the book’s plot took the characters from one place to another that they decided to follow the exciting trail themselves.

Even though a literary trail includes the reader visiting the places that are mentioned in the book, it is not always possible for the readers to visit each and every place. This is because getting to all the places would turn out to be an expensive tour and not all people would be able to afford such a trip. The people all around the world are now waiting for writers to come up with a well researched plot which spans over many historical and tourist spots so that they can feel what they are reading.

Some other authors who have made such exciting trails for the people to follow are Ernest Hemingway, Homer etc. The readers find it immensely satisfying to be at, or stay in all those places about which they have read and have had dreams about.

However, a literary travel does not always have to be a trail to different places. The tour can also be in one particular location where the main story of the book unfolds. In such cases the author creates the location into a paradise of virtual spots for the readers to enjoy. A place which got famous on such grounds is Verona in Italy where the all-time classic of Romeo and Juliet was centered.

The residents of the location have used this opportunity to make a bit of money themselves. They have reproduced sites such as the homes of Romeo and Juliet to satisfy the numerous tourists who come to the area. Another such thing that has been created in Verona is the famous tomb of Juliet. The tourists, even though they know that these places are nothing but creations of fiction, tend to visit these places to give to life everything they had read about.

There are many such places which have grown famous as a result of literary travels and tours. It is the European towns and cities that have benefited the most, as a large number of authors and writers have written about the places here. Also the very large number of historical sites that are there in the continent also prompts many tourists to come here.

The admirers of literary trails are on the constant look-out for the release of books which has a good and imaginative storyline as well as well researched plot that covers a lot locations as the story progresses.
