Lake Tahoe is a prefect vacation hotspot for fun and adventure seekers. Lake Tahoe region comprises a beautiful lake and its adjoining areas stretching between the borders of Nevada and California. It is situated quite close to Reno, at a distance of 60 miles. You can dive down easily from San Francisco. The famous cities of Lake Tahoe region are Tahoe City, Truckee, South Lake Tahoe, Stateline, Tahoe Vista, Homewood and Incline Village. Lake Tahoe is a lovely lake with crystal clear azure blue waters situated beautifully amidst mountain peaks. It is a popular tourist destination owing to an excellent mix of mountainous terrain, scenic beauty and ample activities with a busy nightlife, big time entertainment and fine dining.

Lake Tahoe has a split personality of sorts – the north shore, wearing a calm and peaceful look with good lodging options and the southern region bustling with life and activity along with big hotels, glitz, and glamour and gambling near Nevada. The lighted resorts and casinos are seen stretching for miles in the night. It is easy to reach Lake Tahoe, either by air or road. You can take a flight to Reno airport and drive for an hour to reach Tahoe. You can also fly to airports of San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento and then drive to Tahoe. Car is a very popular mode of transport, but you will have to be careful as the area is mountainous and prone to heavy snowfalls. Activities in Lake Tahoe

The appropriate time for visiting Lake Tahoe is early June and from September till middle of October. In summer, the weekdays as well as weekends are extremely busy. You may need at least three days to see the entire region at a leisurely pace. The most popular activities during summer are hiking, camping and boating. Winter sports are held during the winter season from December to April.

You can enjoy scenic cruises on Lake Tahoe during summer and the most famous ones are Tahoe Queen, Tahoe Gal and M.S. Dixie 2. There are plenty of public beaches surrounding Lake Tahoe and these include Kings Beach, Baldwin Beach and Commons beach. All these places have parks and recreation centers. Sand Harbor State Park has a stunning beach of white sand and it is situated quite close to Incline Village. You can enjoy the various water based activities like boating, sailing, parasailing, water skiing, jet skiing, canoeing, kayaking and paddle boating.

The tourists must make sight seeing trips to the nature center at Sugar Pine Point State Park, beach at D. L. Bliss State Park and Emerald Bay State Park.

Hiking Trails

You can seek pleasure in the hiking trails that are available aplenty in the hills and mountains encircling the lake. You may walk up to the Eagle falls and seek pleasure in the breathtaking scenery. Enjoy rides in the two aerial trams at Heavenly Ski Resort and Squaw Valley.

Skiing and Skating

Excellent opportunities for skiing and skating are available at the resorts of Alpine Meadows, Homewood, Northstar, Squaw Valley, Heavenly, Kirkwood, and Sierra at Tahoe, Diamond Peak and Mount Rose and many more.
