Houston – The Space City
Houston is fondly called Bayou City and it is frequently known as the Space City also. Houston city was founded in the year 1836 by the brothers John and Augustus Allen on a creek, Buffalo Bayou’s banks. Houston is the largest city of Texas and it is America’s fourth biggest city. It is situated in the southeastern area of Texas and takes its name after the valiant General Sam Houston, the head of the Texan Army that won its independence from Mexico. Houston is a leader in the field of space technology and houses the Johnson Space Center and NASA. The astronauts are trained in Johnson Space Center, which acts as a base for Mission Control as well. Houston has an open feel to it despite its skyline that is dotted with skyscrapers, owing to the Bayou Creek, various waterways and several lakes.
