Rhodes Island- Island of Roses

Rhodes Island is the biggest Greek island in the Dodecanese group of South Aegean area. It is world renowned as it is home to Colossus, a magnificent wonder of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Rhodes Island has all the makings for a superb holiday destination by way of lovely beaches, verdant green interiors, happening capital- Rhodes City and beautiful sunshine. The other towns and villages of Rhodes Island include Kalithea, Lardos, Gennadi, Afandou, Ixia and Theologos.

You must make a trip to Castle of Monolithos, a natural wonder. The Castle of Monolithos is a solid rock rising to a height of 240 m. You can get breathtaking view of the west coast and towards the north west side, you will be able to spot the Castle of Kalki. Filerimos Hill has some medieval ruins, a chapel and a monastery and offers splendid views of the north side of the island. Kamiros is full of ancient ruins. Tsambika Peak is a place worth visiting.

The old town of Rhodes City has many notable places like fortifications, Street of Knights and palace of the Prince Grand Master. Do not miss Valley of the Butterflies to see the beautifully colored moths. Epta Piges are the Seven Springs and you can enjoy a short walking trail in the forest over here. Other noteworthy tourist attractions of Rhodes Island include Cape Prasonisi and castle of Kastellos.
