The ancient city of ‘Riga’ is considered to be one of the best break points of Europe. It is encompassed with tiny squares wherein fine local beer can be drunk in open air, that too in summer. You can also enjoy in any of bars in winter. Riga is the finest place for wandering around aimlessly through its whole region. Riga contains a wholesome dose of rebellion as well as antique city walls. Rigans still hold their traditions very much. Their costumes are likely to give the feeling of ugliness in the first look. However, as one tends to understand the culture, they seem to be perfect and fantastic.

Drinking and Eating

Riga can boast of eateries of all the types- right from the most excellent and cheapest food at Lido to the costliest ones at Lijvonia, you have it all! The cheap ones imply self-service, whereas the highly priced ones have waiters at your disposal. Riga has attained a worldwide reputation for its extraordinary chocolate and Black Balsam. Other mouth-watering recipes include the bacon fat that is milk-boiled, and peas.

Things to be done

The places worth seeing in Riga are inclusive of ‘The Soviet War Monument’ that has fresh flowers which are laid everyday, Occupation Museum, and ‘Museum of the Latvian People Front’. A look at the outer side of the ‘Museum of the Latvian People Front’ gives impression that it had been closed in the year 1967. However, the greatness of this place lies in its ever-enthusiastic staff and an eccentric painter. His studio is located above third floor of this museum. Sport lovers can visit the ‘Sports Museum’. It is situated in the vicinity and is unique with respect to everything-appearance, items on display, etc. This place just cannot be missed out, due to its grace!

Other stuff

The Airport of Riga is much smaller in comparison to its counterparts. Still, it’s very efficient. The navigation is also easy. The transport facilities are just the best, that too at uniform prices. Right now, every single journey costs around 20p. The way in which the fervent ticket inspectors carry themselves is worth watching. Shopping has been getting better every time. The ‘Central Market’ is worth visiting. It inhabits 4 ancient ‘Zeppelin Hangers’ from WWI. Like any other district/city, major safety precautions against beggars and pick-pockets are advised. There do exist certain strip clubs, and ‘Pu-Pu’ bars around. However, they are completely harmless. Not only that, they mostly are discrete, and much less noticeable as compared to other ‘Baltic Capitals’.

Accommodations

Some of the highly recommended hotels in Riga include the following:

Hotel Centra Riga

This hotel is one of the top rated hotels of Riga. It consists of 27 rooms and is recommended for seniors, singles, and- not to forget-‘Honeymooners!’

Albert Hotel
