It is one of the most intricate systems of canyons in the world. The Copper Canyon is a protected UNESCO world heritage site and is one of the most popular places with tourists in Mexico. The Canyon is not the only thing to be seen here. There is a wide variety of tourist places from lovely cathedrals to hot springs and some huge rolling ranches. Some parts of the Copper Canyon are not frequented by tourists but they are worth a visit and will surely charm your senses.

The Copper Canyon and the surrounding areas are home to a tribe of native Indians. This tribe is called as the Raramuri tribe of Indians and they are exclusively found in this part of the world. The Raramuri are known for their cat like agility and tremendous speed of movement. It is said that the Raramuri Indians are one of the fastest race of people on this planet. Tourists are advised not to click pictures of these people as it is against their religious beliefs. The Candamena canyon is one of the least visited places in the canyon but this part of the canyon is very beautiful and the vistas and the views are simply breathtaking.
There is a lot of scope for adventure travel in the Copper Canyon. This canyon system is vast and presents quite a challenge to any adventure tourist who plans to traverse or hike across this canyon. The possibility of exploring the Canyon by hiring a bike or an all terrain bike can also be a very good idea. A four wheel drive is also a great vehicle to travel in the Canyon and there is a lot of chance to go off road and really pit your wits against nature and the majestic canyon. Hiking is a very popular adventure activity in the Copper Canyon in Mexico and there are scores of trails and paths that lead to other parts of the canyon and it is quite worthwhile to discover these tracks and enjoy a good wholesome wilderness experience.
