The capital of the country of Sierra Leone is the city of Freetown. Freetown is a city situated on the Atlantic coast and is quite a nice city to visit and to explore. Getting to Freetown is not that big of a problem as a lot of African airlines fly regularly to Freetown.

Visiting Sierra Leone can be a great experience as the country really has a lot to offer to a tourist. The Atlantic coast of the country is full of nice beaches and small towns which are really quaint. Lodging options are plentiful in Freetown but good lodging options can be something of a problem in the other parts of the country. Freetown is a very nice city and a visit to the National Museum is highly recommended. The Chimpanzee sanctuary is also another interesting place to visit and can be a really good place for an outing with children.

The beaches of Sierra Leone and especially those beaches in the vicinity of Freetown are really well maintained and quite unspoiled. Most beaches have bars serving drinks and also some really delicious varieties of seafood. The ethnic cuisine in Sierra Leone is strongly recommended for every tourists and the food is a very good mixture of rice and a variety of stews and soups. The traditional plant delicacies are highly delicious and cooked in the traditional way by using many traditional spices. Sierra Leone is a pretty safe country after the war and the rate of crime in the country is pretty low. There are almost no instances of violent crime and walking on the streets at night is very safe. Sierra Leone is a rough diamond in the tourist and this rough diamond must be polished and made to shine to its maximum capacity.
