The capital of the country is the wonderful city of Santiago which is a very good mixture of old traditional architecture as well as some of the most modern buildings in South America. Some other cities which should be visited by tourists are Arica, Curico, Talca, Temuco, and Ancud among others. Getting to Chile is not a problem at all as most South American and a lot of European and North American airlines offer direct connections to Santiago. Santiago has a very well equipped international airport and the public transport system in Santiago is also one of the best in South America.
Chilean cuisine and wine
Chilean cuisine is absolutely delicious and also not too expensive. There are hundreds of varieties of street food and also some really awesome dishes like pastel del choclo among others. Eating out is also comparatively cheap in Chile with a lot of restaurants offering substantial meals for reasonable prices. Chilean deserts are something which every tourist to Chile should taste and most of these deserts are not too fattening and heavy on the stomach. The wines in Chile do deserve a special mention as they are quite different from the regular European or Australian wines. Chilean wines have a unique flavor and offer a very tangy and a complete different taste.
