Another very good city to visit is Durres. This city is very low lying and during the course of history the city of Durres has been completely flooded three times. The city of Durres is the main port of Albania and also has the biggest amphitheatre in the Balkans which is also very beautiful. The city of Shkodra is a city which finds itself on every tourist itinerary in Albania. This city is home to the majestic Rozafa castle and the castle is a lovely place to visit. The Albanian Alps are a very good place for adventure travelers and hiking enthusiasts. The Albanian Alps are located on the border of Albania with Montenegro and these mountains offer some stunning vistas of the surrounding terrain.
Albanian cuisine
Albania is also home to some of the best Mediterranean beaches and the beaches of Dhermi are among the finest in the world. Albanian cuisine shares a distinct similarity with Turkish cuisines and thus includes a lot of grilled meats and breads. The cuisine is delicious and with spices being highly used most of the food is flavorful and the odor of the food is highly inviting. Albanian food is very healthy owing to the sizeable presence of fresh vegetable and olives in most food preparations. Albania produces a very different type of alcoholic beverage known as Raki and this drink is one of the most popular drinks in Albania and also a very popular souvenir.
