Finding the best villas in Playa Blanca

Fri, Apr 17, 2009

Lanzarote

The resort of Playa Blanca has rapidly evolved into the second most popular holiday destination on Lanzarote over the last decade.  Thanks to the fact that it enjoys many natural advantages over its resort rivals to the north.  Such as a superior microclimate and some of the best beaches on the island.

Now a new holiday rentals website has been launched specialising in holiday villas in Playa Blanca.  Which features a great selection of apartments and villas available for rent across all parts of the resort.  Making finding that ideal villa that much easier.

Playa Blanca first started to evolve during the 1990´s.  Some years after tourism first took off on the rest of the island – in Puerto del Carmen and Costa Teguise.  Located just across the Bocaina Straits from the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura, Playa Blanca had been established as a village and transport hub for the ferry service for many years. But increasingly property developers and hotel chains began to eye the area – thanks to the fact that it enjoys the best weather on the island.

Even in the Canaries, which are renowned for sunshine all year round this still proves highly salient.  As during the winter months there can still be a pronounced difference in temperature and microclimate between the north and the south of the island.  A factor which is obviously of prime importance for many tourists intent on booking a winter sun holiday.

Playa Blanca also boasts some truly breathtaking beaches.  The resort is in fact named after the small beach that still lies at the heart of the village today.  Whilst Playa Dorada and Playa Flamingo are also located within ten minutes walk of the town centre.  Linked by a pleasant seafront promenade.

The real jewel in the crown though are the beaches at nearby Papagayo – which are comprised of five separate bays and coves.  And which can be reached either via a dirt track road or a good fifteen minute walk from the town centre.

Over the last ten years four and five star hotels have been constructed along the shoreline.  Whilst many overseas investors have snapped up property in the resort to rent out to holidaymakers.

As a result Playa Blanca started to boom and quickly dislodged Costa Tegusie as Lanzarote´s number two destination.  The resort continues to evolve today – with additions such as the Marina Rubicon helping to futher enhance its appeal to holiday makers.
