Holiday

A new report by Expedia suggests that holidaymakers in Britain prefer to book their holiday trips in advance and choose package deals more often.  The report also found that Monday evening is the best time to book a holiday, with only one out of every ten waiting to book a holiday on a Saturday.  Sunday was the slowest day for Expedia.

Customers that use Expedia most often choose the best options available at the best price competitively, with 40% of all bookings made for four star hotels.

Germans and Danes were found to be more concerned about holiday costs with holiday makers spending about 20% less on their average trip than Brits.  The busiest times for their trips fell on the August bank holiday and the four day holiday over Easter.

The Expedia report also showed that 50% of the twenty most popular travel destinations are found within Europe with a quarter of these located inside of the UK.  The most popular UK locations were London, Edinburgh, and Manchester.

Around the world, other top destinations were Rome, Amsterdam, Paris, and Dublin.  Those looking for a long holiday usually chose New York, Las Vegas, and Singapore.

Expedia EMEA vice president, Mikael Anderson, stated that over half of all holiday planners in Britain choose to book their trips months ahead of time proving that Brits love to plan in advance.  To prove his point, he even pointed out that one out of every ten Britons even booked their parking spot in advance at the airport car park.
