By Mark Booth, The Stag Company

There’s an increasingly fertile market for men seeking a stag weekend that is more aspirational than your standard ransacking of an Eastern European city. This trend might suggest that there is a breed of man taking a more aspirational approach to their leisure time, shying away from the tried paths and heading for cities that one might associate more with a romantic city break than a stag do destination. Barcelona is one such city seeing an increase in enquires and bookings for pre-wedding parties from men fond of fine dining, culture and, of course, football. Yep, the Barcelona stag do is a sure-fire winner for the thinking man.

The city is almost divided into two by the pedestrian Ramblas, which is a hive of activity with market stalls, restaurants and bars flanking the tree-lined avenue. On the eastern side is Old Town and to the west are the modern shopping boulevards. Port Veil, the harbour, is also worthy of further inspection, thanks to its upmarket restaurants and picturesque views. The city racks up its Michelin stars in this area with pan-Asian restaurants and modern takes on rustic Catalan dishes served up, meaning there’s much more than tapas and paella to tempt those taste buds if you’re looking to go further than merely lining your stomach or a night on the tiles.

Culture-buffs will find plenty to scratch their chins and muster up appreciate grunts to in Barcelona and that’s even before they find their way into a building. Old Town is a feast for the eyes with its ornate architecture and selection of museums and galleries. The city is known for its intrinsic ties to Gaudi who designed many of the buildings found here, noted for their distinctive spires and rich palate of colours.

There’s an artistic element to the way in which Leo Messi and co. go about their football – fortunately, thanks to the sheer scale of the Nou Camp, Barcelona’s home stadium, there’s a good chance of getting tickets for a match there, particularly for league fixtures. Even if your trip doesn’t coincide with a home fixture at the European Champions’ home, you can still have a tour of the stadium; one of only few UEFA endorsed 5 star stadiums on the continent. You’ll have a chance to sit in the dressing room, walk down the tunnel and sit in Pep Guardiola’s seat at the scene of so many famous victories.

As for night-time activities, Barcelona is without parallel in Europe. Perhaps you’d be best served giving Las Ramblas a swerve as the bars and clubs here are avoided by locals – their high drink prices make them little more than tourist traps. Instead, to get an authentic taste of Barcelona by night, take a step off the tried path to be rewarded with a distinctive and memorable night’s fun. The Gothic quarter has scores of top night spots hidden away, including La Divina, Sugar and Nevermind. Plaza Real is also a firm favourite with travellers to the city and is also worthy of further research. For those that like to get themselves suited and booted for a night out, your first port of call should be El Born, which is central and boasts many upmarket spots with beautiful interiors and superior drinks.

Though it might sound obvious, the best thing to do is to get your research in before you travel – that way you can steer clear of activities, clubs and bars that are little more than rip-offs for foolhardy travellers and build your own Barcelona stag do adventure.

To find out more about a Barcelona stag weekend, visit The Stag Company website or call 01273 225 070.

In the midlands are climate grown crops of cereals, legumes and potatoes for local consumption.

The main communication routes of the island with the outside are the Puerto de La Luz the capital and the Puerto de Las Nieves in the municipality Agaete which has an important maritime route and the Airport of Gran Canaria formerly known as Gando Airport and is located about 20 km from the city between the towns of Ingenio and Telde.

The road networks of the island’s all lead to the City of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and the interior roads tend to be organized following the topography of the island from the cliffs leading up to the central area. Parque de San Telmo has a bus station in the city.

El Tren de Gran Canaria TGC is an alternative rail transport to get from Agaete to the capital island, from where it will continue to Maspalomas and is still in planning and construction phases.

The official holiday on the island is September 8th in honour of the Virgen del Pino Teror and patroness of the island. It is very popular to join the pilgrimage on the 7th September Other street entertainments are the Ademas Carnaval de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and the other municipalities of the island and it is considered to be one of the most important holidays on the islands.

Tangiers is a beautiful place and offers a range of unique experiences. Cape Malabata has an incredibly beautiful sunrise and for those that love sunsets you can visit Cape Spartel.

You can visit the underground cave of Hercules where legend says he rested after completing his tasks. The Diplomatic Forest offers hiking, sports and picnics as well as being serenely beautiful.

The Gardens of Mendoubia is where you can walk amongst trees and visit Forbes Museum. It was here that 115,000 soldiers made of lead reenact historic battles. There are a number of historic and stunning mosques to see and view their unique architecture.

A visit to the Pasha Raissouni Palace in August is a must where artists from around the globe exhibit their wares. Tangier will be an experience of a lifetime, whatever it is you choose to do.

One place where the modern exists in harmony with the medieval is Fez. Fez el Jedid (New) is today’s modern Fez while Fez el Bali (Old) is a medieval city preserved in time. Along the busy streets are many stalls where intricate handicrafts, copper, leather goods and brassware can all be found.

The Bou Inania Madersa is a 14th century religious college that is a must see with beautiful architecture and the Dar-Batha museum featuring a Moroccan ceramic collection. The Kairaouine mosque, once the largest in Africa is also fun to visit.

Those interested in the Berber culture flock to the Atlas Mountain for an adventurous time. There are many opportunities to enjoy hiking, biking and photographic opportunities. Panoramic views are offered thanks to the fertile valleys surrounded by waterfalls and rivers. Many guides will offer tours to the area.

Casablanca is Morocco’s modern destination even though it remains quaint. The Central Market of Casablanca and the Habbouse Souk District are two of many places to visit. They are bustling with activity and will thrill you with all the fascinating products and assortment of goods.

The Hassan mosque II is one of the largest on the globe and it captures the attention of all who visit. The nightlife of Corniche is excellent as well as the many hotels, swimming pools, bars, restaurants and beaches. A small village nearby is Oualidia and is known for oysters. Marrackech like Fez has two areas the historic or Medina and the new city. You can visit each by foot or via a caleche a small carriage pulled by a horse.

This year, why not plan a vacation that is exotic, adventurous, and historical. Majorca is the largest island off the coasts of Spain. It is also the most populated. This place truly has something for everyone. If you are looking for a family vacation this is a perfect alternative. Many tourists have been coming here since the 1950′s especially from Ireland, Germany, and the United Kingdom. Because of this, most younger natives are bilingual and speak Catalan and Spanish. Many of the tourist areas speak fluent English and German also. This island has a high percentage of businesses that cater to tourists, some estimate close to 80%.

The climate here is Mediterranean with hot, sunny summers and mild winters with storms in some areas. The terrain is varying going from beautiful, romantic beaches to mountain ranges. There is a flat plain area also. There are two bays and several below and above sea-level caves for exploration. Some of these caves have underground lakes and are available for touring. If hiking is your thing, there are many areas for this especially in the mountainous areas. Bicycling and other sports are also popular, including boating and diving. Many well known sports figures are from this island.

If your family likes history, then they will love this vacation. There are many historical sites over different time eras for a wide variety of interests. There are Roman ruins, when this island began to flourish in the 500′s. There are still churches standing from the Byzantine Empire. The Moors influence is still in evidence by the large groves of olive trees begun when irrigation knowledge was brought in. Small, quaint medieval villages are scattered throughout several regions. Castles and Palaces are here too and the Spanish Royal family will take their summers here still. The Battle of Majorca was fought during the Spanish Civil War for war history buffs.

In the capital city of Palma, you will find a museum located in an 18th century mansion. Local architecture can be seen spanning several time periods. Nightlife here especially in the capital and in the many resorts catering to tourist will appease the night owls. Dancing is popular here also.

There are road trips, amusement parks ( for the young and young of heart), along with train trips and water adventures. Majorca is a land of contrasts and one can see many windmills. The locals are friendly and some still make pearl jewellery available and well renowned. Many restaurants and bars have enjoyable cuisine which includes locally produced olives and almonds. There is local entertainment just about everywhere. There is a local festival that begins in early August.

Be adventurous and take tours not on the usual routes. Soak up the sun or run through the surf. Many tourists report that the locals like to share their culture and this is a wonderful opportunity for you family to practice or learn a new language. Tour the local plazas and markets. Scout out bargains. There is sure to be something for everyone. There are many things to do even during bad weather days.

Spain is a great destination if you’re looking for a holiday that gives you plenty of things to see and do.

This is particularly the case if you visit Alicante or Benidorm, as both these cities – situated on Spain’s southern coast – offer lots of family-friendly activities that can make for a fantastic day out.

There are usually always cheap holiday deals to Benidorm, and if you do go, make sure you place a visit to Aqualandia at the top of your list of things to do!

Opened in 1985, Aqualandia is Spain’s oldest water park and incorporates a vast range of slides and pools that people of all ages can have fun splashing around in.

However, there is plenty to do outside of the water as the attraction also has breathtaking landscaped gardens, a souvenir shop and several restaurants.

The water park is open from mid-May to late September, so it is the perfect place to visit during a summer holiday to Spain.

Tickets cost €28 (£24) for adults and €21 for children and senior citizens, although you may be able to save money if you book ahead.

But Aqualandia is by no means the only place your family may want to visit during your holiday in Benidorm.

Terra Natura is a fantastic theme park that is separated into four distinct sections – America, Pangea, Europe and Asia.

No matter which you decide to visit, you can be confident of seeing some fantastic creatures, with bears, flamingos, elephants and crocodiles among the animals that call the park home.

The Terra Natura complex also incorporates Aqua Natura, a water park that has 800 metres of slides to zoom along and fantastic pools to splash around in. A variety of marine wildlife, including sharks and rays, can also be spotted here.

You can pay to enter either Aqua Natura or Terra Natura separately, although if you wish to visit both during the course of a day you can buy a multi-pass admission ticket.

Animal-loving kids are sure to enjoy a trip to Mundomar, which is situated in Benidorm’s Rincon de Loix region. Parrots, penguins and turtles are just some of the many creatures that can be viewed here, however the daily dolphin shows are bound to be the highlight of your visit.

All the members of your family, whatever their age, are bound to enjoy a trip to the Terra Mitica Park. With the theme park split into five distinct areas – Greece, Iberia, Egypt, the Islands and Rome – there are lots of things to see and do.

You can watch gladiators and acrobats put on a range of captivating shows before tucking into some fantastic cuisine at one of the many restaurants and bars.

The theme park has rides designed for those seeking white-knuckle thrills and spills – including the 60 miles per hour Titanide rollercoaster – as well as ones suitable for young children, so there should be something for everyone in your party.

However, if you’re on holiday in Alicante you will find that the destination also has plenty of things for the whole family to get involved in.

Why not take a trip to the port and see the boats coming in? Alternatively, head to one of Alicante’s many public parks where you can while the afternoon away enjoying a hearty picnic.

You can visit Canalejas, where you may come across a monument built in honour of local playwright Carlos Arniches, as well as El Palmeral and Explanada de Espana so there will be lots of choice.

Just outside the city is the Vergel Safari Park, where the likes of tigers, lions and Iberian wolves can be seen as you drive through the open terrain.

Benidorm and Alicante both offer lots to do so you can be sure your family will be kept entertained during your holiday in Spain.

A travel expert from the site said that people love to be inspired by the famous people of TV and film for holiday inspiration and it is great to see the interest in Benidorm. The phenomenon known as screenspiration has always been real to the travel industry.

Research has shown that 20% of travelers are inspired by a film when choosing their holiday. The trilogy, Lord of the Rings, produced great interest in New Zealand as a holiday destination. As Benidorm is enjoying a little renaissance, people should shop around for value when visiting the resort.

It is located 5km from Puerto del Rosario, capital of the island. During 2007 according to Aena, 4,630,00 passengers passed through its facilities, an increase of 3.8% from 2006.

The growth of the population of the island and the location of the plant led to finding a new location for the airport. It was finally located in the scrub, which would be inaugurated in 1964. A Fokker F27 flying between Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (LPA) to Fuerteventura (FUE) and bound to Lanzarote (ACE) was the first plane to land at the new airport on the island.
In 1973 they introduced international flights from Fuerteventura, flights would increase year by year, until in 1992 a complete renovation of the facilities was necessary. By 1994 they began the expansion work which included a new passenger terminal, expansion of the aircraft apron, a power plant and new access road.

By 2001 the old airport terminal in Fuerteventura was now demolished and became notorious for becoming a center for immigrants. The condition of facilities, the means to monitor them, overcrowding, lack of communication with the outside and its sanitation where people were confined, provoked more protests from various groups. Human Rights Watch went on to say that the dire conditions of detention had taken emergency proportions.

The current passenger terminal has 34 check-in counters numbered from 0 to 33 (the latter dedicated to special equipment: windsurfing boards; strollers; animal cages etc) and 10 gates, some with facilities for passport control.

The terminal has 5 gateways or fingers, one for each two doors. In the arrivals area there are 8 tapes installed for baggage reclaim, dedicating the number 8 to the special baggage. According to the official website of Aena, the facilities in operation are able to serve about five million passengers (arrivals / departures) per year.

There is now in motion a plan that provides for the extension of much of the airport facilities. These extensions are installing a water treatment plant, a new cargo terminal, the new passenger terminal and the new control tower (not yet in operation).

The airport has regular links with the islands of Tenerife and Gran Canaria, as well as Madrid in the Iberian Peninsula. The remaining connections are highly variable depending on season, as in all tourist airports

Discover what south western Spain and the remote Scottish island of Islay have in common with a tasting broadcast live and interactive from Jerez

Gastronomic getaways have risen in popularity in recent years, as discerning holidaymakers seek out alluring locations with an appetising local menu to match. One such destination is south western Spain, where the Jerez region is renowned for producing wines and sherry that have been enjoyed around the world for hundreds of years.

The full Andalucian epicurean experience is not complete without enjoying tapas with a fino (sherry). Tapas is believed to have evolved as a cuisine in its own right from a more functional origin, when food like bread and pieces of ham were used as a ‘cover’ or ‘lid’ – the translation of ‘tapa’ – for wine to keep flies out of the drink.

While the ‘fino’ flows freely in Jerez, one spirit you might not expect to encounter is a Scotch whisky. And that’s where the curious traveller can discover a few unknown facts about Jerez’s influence beyond wines. Laphroaig whisky, distilled on the Scottish island of Islay, boasts a rich 200-year-old heritage, while the Jerez region has been producing wine since 1100BC, and fortified wine – sherry – since at least the 13th century, with many believing production began even earlier.

While whisky typically ages in bourbon oak casks, certain expressions of Laphroaig are matured in sherry casks, where the rich and fruity flavours of their former contents are imparted on the whisky. The result is a true taste of Scotland, with an unmistakable flavour of Jerez.

Making the trip to Jerez is easier than you think. In fact, you don’t even need to leave the comfort of your living room to sample the delights of the region thanks to a unique live online travelogue, tapas- and whisky-tasting session.

Broadcasting live from the Harvey’s bodegas in Jerez, this live and interactive event will offer a further insight into the creation of Laphroaig’s sherry cask-matured expressions. It will also give viewers a behind the scenes tour of the region, and introduce experts who will be pairing a selection of whiskies with authentic Spanish tapas that bring out the rich and creamy notes of the whisky whilst complimenting the bold flavours of Spanish cuisine.

So if you’re a whisky connoisseur, sherry lover or curious foodie in search of travel that brings something different, log on and join us for a dram. You can watch the show live on Thursday 23rd September 2010 at 1900hrs UK; 2000hrs Spain or on demand afterwards. Prior to the show questions can be submitted to www.laphroaig.com/live

Majorca is one of the largest of the Spanish Balearic islands, and is one of the most visited islands in all of Europe. One reason it’s so well visited is that there is something here for everyone, busy holiday resorts with lots of night life and sporting activities, and sleepy villages where you can enjoy a much more sedate holiday. There is much of historic interest on the island as well, and those who enjoy shopping will find many wonderful places to indulge this pastime too.

There are many different holiday regions here, from Palma the capital and Magaluf in the south-west of the island, to Puerto Pollensa on the north-west coast. Around the island the many beautiful beaches lend themselves well to a variety of activities and the mountains add a wonderful backdrop to many regions as well as offering some interesting walks and wonderful views.

Puerto Pollensa, about an hour and a half’s drive from Palma is surrounded by the Sierra de Tramuntana mountain range which gives a lot of shelter to the bay in which its set. One of the area’s most impressive land marks is the Via Crucis which is a steep climb of around 400 steps flanked by cypress trees. When you reach the top there’s a 13th century statue of the Mare de Due del Peu de la Creu (Mother of God at the foot of the Cross), and the views from this plateau are stunning as well.

The bay of Pollensa has a main beach with wonderful shallow waters which makes it very popular with families, and the area has a number of other smaller natural beaches as well allowing those who want a little more seclusion the perfect atmosphere. Through the summer there are lots of bars and pavement cafes open to visitors, and the region has one well established disco called Chivas which has been open since 1969. Many of the hotels however put on entertainments in the evening which are open to anyone who wishes to attend and not just their own patrons.

For people who enjoy walking, there are lots of walks in this area which take you up into the hills where you can enjoy stunning views out over the bay and the surrounding seas, and the flora in the area can be very beautiful as well. Local guides will happily go with you on these walks so you have no need to worry about getting lost either.

Online travel agent On the Beach saw a significant rise in bookings for summer 2010 during the Christmas period, with the Spanish Canary Islands proving the most popular destinations amongst sun starved Britons.

Along with the Canary Islands of Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Tenerife, Egypt and Turkey (the latter being the most popular destination for summer 2009), are both proving popular for 2010, mirroring the trend for last season.

Early indications also suggest that compared to 2009, the North African destinations of Tunisia and Morocco will welcome more British holidaymakers in 2010.

Furthermore, of all bookings made during December, 42% were for travel during summer 2010, which is further proof that holidaymakers are determined on taking a summer holiday next year.

However, research by On the Beach also suggests that whilst holidaymakers will be travelling during next year’s Fifa World Cup, British holidaymakers are being careful not to travel on the dates England are playing their important group matches. England play their matches on July 12, 18 and 23 and early flight bookings for travel on these dates are down by an average of 40%.

Alistair Daly, Marketing Director at On the Beach says, “The festive season has been very busy at On the Beach as money conscious holidaymakers have been eager to snap up the best end of year deals on offer. Our bookings suggest that 2010 will be a better year for Spanish destinations and whilst most of us will not be travelling to South Africa to follow England during the World Cup, it’s clear that many Brits will be cheering on the Three Lions from the comfort of a beach bar in the sun.”

Founded in 1995, On the Beach is one of the UK’s leading online travel agencies carrying over 500,000 passengers every year (ABTA K0813). On the Beach provides value for money flights and hotels in the world’s most popular beach holiday destinations. On the Beach provides consumers with a huge selection of travel products, from 50 million available seats, more than 30,000 hotels around the world, insurance and in-resort transfer partners. Customers can book online at www.onthebeach.co.uk or by calling the UK call centre on 0870 606 07 08

The attraction for most UK holiday makers is of course the relatively short travel time, fantastic climate, wide use of English language and a large number of cheap package holiday deals to name but a few.

When Spain is mentioned a lot of people immediately think of beach holidays and cheap package holidays, although there are many other excellent reasons to visit Spain. I have put together a list of my top 5 things to do and would encourage anyone going on holidays to Spain to make time for a least a couple of them.

1.	Running of the Bulls: Every year thousands of people from all over the world flock to the streets of Pamplona to take part in Spain’s most famous fiesta to honour the Navarre capital’s patron saint, San Fermin. Anyone can take part although it can be very dangerous and probably best to watch from a safe distance!

2.	Visit the Nou Camp: The home of FC Barcelona, the Nou Camp is the largest stadium in Europe with a capacity just short of 100,000. It truly is a sight to behold and if you only see one thing in Barcelona make it this.

3.	Gaudi’s Barcelona: Antoni Gaudi was a unique and hugely talented architect. His work has a huge influence on Barcelona and you can see examples of this all over the city.

4.	Tapas: Wherever you are in Spain tapas is a must. It is not a specific food type, but a way of eating. You will usually get a number of small portions of food such as chorizo, potatoes and tiger prawns.

5.	Golfing At Valderrama: Valderrama is regarded by many to be the number 1 course in Europe. The 17th is notoriously difficult and tests the skills of even the top pros.

As you can see there are a whole host of options when it comes to holidays in Spain and you are sure to have a fun packed holiday whatever you decide to do.

Mallorca – or Majorca as it is more commonly referred to in the UK – is the largest of the Balearic Islands. And has long been a firm favourite with tourists. Thanks to its breathtaking scenery – characterised by pine clad hills and golden sandy beaches. Along with a wonderful Mediterranean climate – making it a hugely popular destination from May through until September.

Mallorca’s charms also extend to historic cities such as the capital La Palma and a whole raft of fascinating visitor attractions. Whilst accommodation standards on the island are also very high. With an enormous range of hotels and holiday villas in Mallorca available for visitors to select from.

Whilst famous visitors such as Robert Graves and Frederic Chopin have been gracing the island for century’s modern tourism only really started to take off here during the 1950´s. Evolving around nascent resorts such as Magalluf – which has since become something of a byword for the worst excesses of tourist over development.

But that is now a distant memory and there are plenty of attractive options around the island for anyone wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of the larger resorts. Especially in the more picturesque north of the island in and around the old town of Pollensa and Alcudia.

Pollensa started life as a Roman settlement in the 5th century – before emerging to become one of the most attractive destinations on the island today. Boasting pretty squares, cobbled streets and plenty of upmarket bars, shops and restaurants. All located within easy reach of the breathtaking beaches of the North coast.

Puerto Pollensa just 8km or so away was developed as the sister coastal resort to Pollensa and is now well established as a popular destination. Benefiting from the hugely atmospheric backdrop of the Tramantura Mountains which really dominate this part of the island.

Puerto Pollensa is arrayed around a great main beach and marina area and offers a really relaxing atmosphere. With plenty of good quality restaurants for visitors to enjoy. The bulk of which can be found along the resorts main seafront promenade.

A little further along the coast lies the delightful resort of Can Picafort – which was once just a small and sleepy little fishing village. It offers great beaches and is now one of the most popular holiday hot spots in this part of the island.

Mallorca is just a two and half hour plane journey from the UK and flights to the island are available with all of the leading low cost operators from all major UK airports.

Malaga has a privileged position facing the Mediterranean, helping it to become one of the most modern and cosmopolitan destinations in Spain. Malaga is proud to host tourism not only helping visitors to go home with a great tan, but also for those who enjoy walking through the pedestrian streets along the old town and visiting all the great tourist attractions that are concentrated in the historic centre.

Historic Malaga offers culture, great monuments to visit, and a wealth of interesting museums. The museums include the Picasso Museum, the Picasso birthplace museum, the Contemporary Arts Centre, the wine museum and the Flamenco museum among others. This is the perfect complement to the tourists who make their stay in one of the beautiful holiday apartments in Malaga city.

Malaga, the major city in the Costa del Sol also has its own beaches. Along the Costa del Sol and in the city of Malaga itself, you are able to find good quality beaches with plenty of good fish restaurants along the beach.

If you are planning a citybreak in Malaga for your winter holidays, you won´t be disappointed.

Alcudia is a small but very popular resort on the northeast coast of the Spanish island of Majorca. With its sheltered bay and beautiful beach added to its hotels and international cuisine restaurants, it is a favored destination for English-speaking visitors as well as German, Scandinavian, and other holiday seekers.

The perfect way to spend a holiday in Alcudia is at an all inclusive destination such as the Bellevue Hotel with 1468 modern and nicely furnished studios and apartments in its 17 buildings on 200,000 square meters of landscaped grounds and many amenities including eight swimming pools and free parking. Included in the room price is a buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner; snacks; soft drinks and local alcoholic drinks; a cafe with large screen TVs; bars with dancing; the use of land sports equipment and a gym; and daily shows for entertainment. Activities such as water sports, tennis, volleyball, squash, billiards, go-karts, mini-golf, archery, horse riding, beauty services, pay movies and cable TV, and others are available but at an extra charge. The beach is only 500 meters away, is the longest beach in Majorca, and has warm waters.

The rooms have a kitchenette, balcony, satellite TV, and an in-room safety box. There are restaurants, cafeterias, pizzerias, bars including English and Irish ones, a large lobby and reception area, gift shops, gardens, marina, and lakes on which you can go canoeing. A currency exchange, tour and car rental desk, a mini-market, laundry/dry cleaning service, a doctor on call, and more are provided.

If it is a family vacation, for young children there is a mini-club and nine children’s swimming pools, babysitting and baby furniture rentals available, children’s TV channels and films, a supervised playroom, and a separate children’s buffet with catered dietary needs if needed. For older children there is a supervised games room with video games, pool tables, ping-pong, and an internet area. Activities programs are there for all ages as well as a disco.

If you want to go off-site, there are many nearby activities to take part in: regular and miniature golfing, boating, fishing, sailing, snorkeling, surfing, parasailing, scuba diving, water skiing, and windsurfing. There are also bicycle and scooter/moped rentals available, mountain biking, walking trails, horse riding, and a bird sanctuary.

The town of Alcudia has shops, a special twice-weekly market that features unique items such as leather goods and lace tablecloths and many souvenirs, a steep hill to climb which gives you a magnificent view, an active night life, and a water amusement park.

The Old Town of Alcudia is located only two miles away and is intriguing with its massive city walls , two gates, narrow street, and large towers. Near the town are Roman ruins including an amphitheater and one of the oldest churches in Majorca.

Fish restaurants are excellent at the harbor; and there are eating establishments with Mediterranean and European cuisine where you can get an English or Scottish breakfast, fish and chips, or Yorkshire pudding and roast beef. There is also a choice of Indian, Chinese, Italian, French, Spanish, and local dishes.

You can book cheap Majorca holidays from most UK tour operators.

Menorca is one of the Balearic Islands, nestled neatly off the coast of sunny Spain. Blessed with the same warm weather and ringed by beautiful blond beaches, this island is ever growing in popularity. With a range of villas with private pools to choose from, you too can fly to the sun and enjoy the holiday you deserve.

So what is it that separates Menorca villa holidays from all those other villas out there? A good place to start is the location. As the second biggest of the Balearic Islands, Menorca is positioned just off the coast of Spain, a favourite UK holiday villas location, and always popular for its sunny temperate climate and the delightful Spanish culture. Combine with this delightful Menorca beach villa locations and the treasured Menorca villa environment and you have a truly enjoyable holiday in the making.

As with all Mediterranean island destinations, the island of Menorca still has strong links to its heritage. A quick drive along the island will take you through modern towns and rural traditional villages alike. Villas with private pools will give you a taste of both the gentle Menorcan way of life, as well as an introduction to an Island teaming with exciting activities, dreamy Menorca villas, and an exciting but optional nightlife.

To decide what villas to rent in Menorca, you will need to define what you are looking for in a holiday destination. The island has many faces, so choose your resort from a Menorca holiday villas provider such as Villa Plus carefully. If you aren’t looks for a Menorca beach villa, then you may want to consider a resort such as S’Algar. Renowned for its beautiful clear waters and excellent diving facilities, this rocky little location features affordable villas such as Villa Claudia, which features a sun trap terrace from which to survey the sea views and rugged Menorcan landscape.

With more beaches than the other Balearic Islands put together, villas to rent in Menorca more than cater for the sun loving beach babes who dream of sun, sea, sand and sangria. If this is what you crave on your Menorca cheap villas then head to a southern island destination such as Son Bou. With two miles of golden sand and plentiful whitewashed villas, this resort comes complete with water sports and archaeological sites all within walking distance. As with all Menorca beach villas, you will be quite unable to fault the attractive entertainment, and its proximity to the real life of Menorcan nature reserves. Try renting one of the Menorca villas with heated pools such as Villa Corina. Located in the lower area of Torre Soli, this is set in one of the privileged resorts nestled behind the sandy beach with patio doors leading to the cool shaded terrace. Heaven!

To enjoy this popular and somewhat irresistible villa holiday destination, all it takes is to rent one of the Menorca beach villas and relax. Try renting a car through a provider such as Villa Plus, and explore the island that native Menorcan locals call home.

Villas to rent in Menorca are pretty hard to beat. The sun, the sea and the sand are hard to resist on their own, and the private pools will really win out.

A Mediterranean Holiday Cruise

The Mediterranean is a popular holiday cruise destination known for its golden beaches and warm climates. Indeed, a cruise is the best way to explore this majestic region that takes pride in its diverse cultures. Most of the touristy spots in this region are equally as interesting to explore but why not indulge in the tourism wonders that the Balearics, Italian and French Rivieras, and Spanish Costa can offer? On such a cruise, tourists get to savour the different cultures of world-famous cities such as Barcelona, Rome, and Cannes.

In this part of Europe are traditional “old towns” where visitors can enjoy a drink while enjoying the sight of the majestic ancient churches. The laid-back atmosphere in these spots is something most travellers relish.

Mediterranean cuisine is also diverse, with a dash of Greek, Moroccan, and Spanish influence. Cruisers can enjoy many dishes, but they should not leave without trying the Spanish Tapas (small dishes made from meat, vegetables and fish). Since Mediterranean countries are near the sea, fish has always been a staple of many dishes and is considered the “key” to the Mediterranean’s cooking heritage. Fish is cooked in countless ways, including casseroles, pastas, soups, and stews, depending on which country you visit. There are many vegetables and fruits that are grown in the warm Mediterranean climate, and these are a feast for the wandering traveller.

Travellers may also enjoy learning the languages spoken in this region. Although many people speak English in the coastal ports, it is always worth trying to speak the local language. Among the languages spoken in the Mediterranean region are Spanish, Italian, and Greek.

In order for you to experience the Mediterranean, many cruise deals are available at reduced or discounted rates. Plan a booking at least four months prior to departure to get an itinerary or the shore excursions of your choice.

Having a perfect holiday to Spain is easier if you do some planning ahead.

First, start organising the trip well in advance so that you have plenty of time to make a good choice among all the holiday possibilities you will find..

Once you know the destination, the next step would be to find flight tickets and accommodation. If you like traveling to a sunny place with good beaches and lots of activities to do with your children, Spain is the ideal choice. Doing a research in the Internet on holiday rentals in Spain will probably drive you to a list of holiday rental sites where you can book a nice holiday home with all kind of facilities cheaper than if you book a hotel.

After booking a holiday villa in Spain, you will probably need a car rental. Contact some agencies, get different prices and make your booking. Some holiday rental websites offer car rental as well, so that you can book both at the same time. If you have a GPS available for the country you travel it will probably be a good idea to bring it with you too.

Read about the place you will travel to, using travel forums or guide books could be a good help when traveling.

Check the weather forecast a few days before your trip. If you travel to Spain during the summer, don’t foreget protect your skin from the sun during the heat of the day, and wear plenty of sun screen.

Look at the exchange rates. Having a currency that makes you feel rich greatly increases your holiday fun.

Remember to bring all your travel documents. A successful holiday depends on planning and being organised. Sort out all your travel plans before actually going for it and know what you exactly you want from your holiday. Whit this in mind everyone can have a wonderful holiday rather than being stressed out before you arrive.

Happy Holidays!

“Spain can offer holidaymakers the cleanest and safest beaches in Europe, according to the latest Blue Flag awards”.

The European Foundation for Environmental Education has awarded Spain with 571 distinctive blue flags, 44 more than last year.

The Blue flag award is the most recognised programme rating beaches and marinas throughout the world. It is owned and run by the independent non-profit organisation Foundation for Environmental Education and oversees water quality, environmental education and information, environmental management, and safety among other services.

The fact that Spain has been awarded with 571 blue flags this year is critical to the ongoing success of beach holidays in Spain. Andalucia has gained this year 24 more and the Canary Islands 8 more.

Galicia is the area with most flags (124), followed by Catalunya (108) and Valencia (101).

At this time of the year, good beaches are one of the main criteria for holidaymakers especially with Spain having more than 4,000 Kms of coastline packed with gorgeous Spanish beaches to choose from. This helps to make Spain one of the most visited and popular holiday countries for Europeans. With a wide selection of beach apartments in Spain and holiday resorts at the beach, Spain is right now the perfect location for your holiday.
