Having Malaga International Airport right there, makes access to Costa del Sol a breeze. Malaga is wonderful, historic town, with street after street with cobblestone streets and small shops. I'll be back in September to have a closer look.

Thanks for the tips. You have to love the Spanish Tapas. In La Cala de Mijas, in Costa del Sol, there is a tapas restaurant down by the beach that is to die for. I'll be back again soon!

If you're looking to enjoy the Rio Carnival but budget is a problem then you might also like to think about the Winners Parade that comes the weekend after the main carnival - it's all the best samba schools from the main event strutting their stuff and if you're not a Rio resident, you really can't tell the difference: well, except for that it all costs about half as much!

As a Glaswegian who left in the late 60s, it is good to see the city now being recognised as a place to visit. In my time, unfortunately, it was a city to escape from, not one to go to.

I agree that there is so much to see and do in Glasgow, including great shopping, but I always say, one good thing about the city is that you can leave it very quickly and soon be in beautiful countryside like Loch Lomond.

Whichever city you visit enjoy your travels.

Having travelled by train over the last two week-ends I am not surprised that trains to Scotland are becoming more popular as both our journeys were on time, quick and without any hassle. My only gripe would be about the costs of some of the journeys which are still too pricey especially if not booked well in advance.

A good article Alan.

Best regards

Checking the security of the page that you are entering your details in really is basic stuff, and im still astounded that people forget to do this when shopping online. Its a shame because, provided that a few basic commonsense guidelines for making bookings are followed, the internet is a fantastic way to buy flights, hotels, package deals, insurance, hire cars etc.

I only ever make my travel arrangements online these days, and never had a problem.

Found this very interesting post (my daughter is a massive Jonny Depp fan so would be delighted if we could see him whilst on holiday!) whilst looking for info on our upcoming holidays to St Ives, so im hoping others will too, who could mayby provide me with some information. After searching for caravan holidays in st ives I came across the site called Trevarrack (I just hyperlinked it there, look at me techno wizard!ha) and was wondering if anyone had been to this site or any others around St Ives and could give me a recommendation or some info on it? I know its a bit of a long shot but I don't know where else to ask? Thanks in advance. Danny

Have just turned back from a fantastic trip to Pattaya, stayed at Palm Beach Inn in the northeastern part which is less busy than southern areas, superior resort and good bays near Pattaya like at Koh Larn. We rented a landrover for only 300 baht per day and would drive around the total region. So many great localises to eat, our loved spot was Ahan thai Aroy which had the most marvelous view over the beach, the staff was quite nice and the food so yummy, we went for sunset cocktails. My husband and I had a great time in Pattaya City and will be back for Easter.

Lanzarote is a great place to go on half term. There is so much to do and the weather this time of year is usually perfect. I went self catering as eating out in Lanzarote can be quite expensive - especially with the Euro.

Well, it depends how tailormade you want your holiday to be, really. We booked and paid for 10 days in boutique hotels in Syria, had a catastrophically inefficient and hugely stressful run-up to the holiday, and ended up in 5-star hotels - which we specifically did not want - and with a whacking excess amount to cover it.

I did something similar and rented a p;ace for the whole family to enjoy. Renting an Ibiza Villa was cost effective too as we were able to buy food from the local shops. We also rented a car and could explore the surrounding areas and see different beaches. The weather was great for October too.

When looking at doing an instructor course its important to check to see exactly what is included. How much training is there (can vary from 10 hours to 33 hours a week), what qualifications have the coaches got, what exam fees are included (level 1 and two or just level 1?) what extras do you have to pay for? Most courses include some shadowing of lessons – check to see if it is ‘shadowing’ or is it ‘unpaid labour’.

You should also see if it is possible to stay on after the course and do some real teaching, this is much more valuable on your CV than just having paid to do a course.
