So it’s good news that many villa owners in Cyprus, which has more sunshine than anywhere else in Europe, have slashed their Euro prices. “We are seeing very few price rises in sterling” said Jon Cockerill of Cyprus Property Villas “as owners accept price cuts in Euro to keep their sterling rates the same as last year”.
“Cypriots are very aware of the British economy because of the strong historical links” added Cockerill. “Because of the economic uncertainty there are more early booking offers than ever”.
A 3-bedroomed villa with private pool starts at £650 per week in July, less than £110 per person and inclusive of air-conditioning. More good news has been the launch of Easyjet services to both Paphos and Larnaca, with flights from Gatwick and Manchester.
Cyprus looks set to thrive as a holiday destination in 2009, as a sunny antidote to the economic woes of home.
