Despite the recession millions of British consumers will still e jetting off on a winter sun break this year. But for the budget conscious which is the best value destination?
The Canary Islands are located just four hours flying time from the UK and are the closest genuine winter sun destination to home. Enjoying good weather all year round thanks to their location just off the west African coast of Morocco. On the same line of latitude as the Bahamas.
Yet unlike the Caribbean the Canaries offer affordable winter breaks for all. For example on the most easterly island of Lanzarote it is possible to build your own holiday break this winter from as little as a couple of hundred pounds per person.

Weekly rental rates for villas in Lanzarote start from £350 per week. Which will secure a two bedroom property, with private pool, in one of the main resorts such as Playa Blanca or Puerto del Carmen. With Playa Blanca offering the best prospects of good weather thanks to its location right at the southern end of the island.
