Across the country Brits are getting ready to take their annual holiday with a new survey reporting that 75% of all those who have already planned a holiday experienced a harsh reality during their trip.
According to Carrentals.co.uk, one out of every three people in the 1,500 people survey reported that when they arrived at their holiday resort a slew of animals had already beaten them there including everything from ants, snakes, cockroaches, spiders, possums, and worms.
Outside of animal visitors, holiday accommodation was also reported to be subpar due to the presence of bed linens that were soiled with urine or vomit as well as broken condoms that were found on the beds. Another third stated that appliances did not work within their hotel rooms and 25% reported their rooms contained broken furniture.
Other problems that occurred during holidays incurred large costs for travellers such as car hire problems, unforeseen medical bills, and excess baggage fees. In fact, 27% of the 40% of respondents that reported they spent more on holiday than expected blamed the excess cost on car rentals.
Gareth Robinson, the managing director at Carrentals.co.uk stated that there are a surprising amount of holiday horror stories out there many of which can be eliminated if consumers would take the time to carefully check over their vehicle for damage before signing any paper work. He also noted that users should take care to fill up the tank before returning it the car hire headquarters.
Also revealed in the study was the fact that Brits still choose to travel to Spain above all other outside countries with 80% of all travellers choosing to book accommodations for their holiday online.
