If you enjoy walking, there are many walks that can be taken into the surrounding hills and there are many guides available who will show you the way as well as making sure you are fully equipped for any of the harder walks. The views that can be seen from some of these hillside and mountain paths are fantastic.
The main beach bay has quite a large number of hotels around it, from smaller family run hotels to larger ones where activities programmes are provided. Most of the evening entertainment in the area is hotel based, although there is one well established disco called Chivas which has been around for a full 40 years now. There are many pavement cafes where you can sit in the evening and enjoy a beer and watch the sea and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.

There are number of wonderful hotels in Puerto Pollensa to cater for different budgets and tastes. The Illa Dor is at the far end of the pine walk and is a luxury hotel at the top end of the budget. Cheaper hotels that cater to families and couples are Pollensa Park & Flora Apartments. There are also a number of boutique hotels in the resort if you are looking for something quirky and individual – try the Hostal Bahia or Mirimar hotel.

A little way down the coast is the old port which was popular with artists before the tourist boom. Here most of the hotels have a lovely older feel to them, the oldest being the hotel Miramar which was opened in 1912. There are many other places to stay locally as well, including apartments as well as hotels Just inland from Puerto Pollensa is the old town of Pollensa which is much older and steeped in history. Many of it’s streets are cobbled and much of the architecture of the buildings is 17th and 18th century. There is a surviving roman bridge in the centre of town, and a rather novel fountain dated 1827 in the town square which is adorned with a cockerel. The most impressive thing to see here is probably the Via Crucis however. This is a long steep climb of nearly 400 steps flanked with cypress trees. At the top stands a statue of Mare de Deu del Peu de la Creu (Mother of God at the Foot of the Cross). Climbing the steps to see the statue will also give you the chance to see some incredible views of the surrounding area. If you fancy staying here rather than right on the coast then the Posada de Lluc might be worth a look. Located in a medieval town house, it’s rooms are filled with antique furniture Despite this, it still has modern facilities including air conditioning and satellite TV in every room as well as it’s own gardens and swimming pool.
